Permanent Christmas lights go up once and stay up. They live in a slim aluminum channel tucked under your soffit, matched to the color of your fascia, and they are close to invisible in daylight. Come December you open an app and your roofline is red and green, warm white, or whatever you feel like that evening.
No ladder in November. No tangle of strings in the garage. No taking them down in January when the weather has turned and the enthusiasm has gone.
Against paying someone every year
Most people arriving here are already paying for holiday lighting — either a service that installs and removes each season, or a weekend of their own time and a ladder. The useful comparison is not permanent lighting against nothing. It is permanent lighting against doing it again next year, and the year after.

What Christmas actually looks like on it
The system holds up to 30 colors in a single pattern, so you are not limited to one look. A few of the settings our customers use most:
Red and green alternating along the roofline. The one everyone pictures.
Christmas warm white throughout — closest to traditional incandescent, and the setting most people leave on through December.
Red and white in blocks, which reads well from the cart path.
Blue and white, saved as its own scene alongside the rest.
Gold and silver for the week between, when the tree is down but you are not done.
Warm white on a schedule the rest of the year, so the house is never dark and never garish.

Set it once and forget it
You can put the whole season on a schedule. Set the calendar so the lights come on at dusk and off at a reasonable hour, run your Christmas scene from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year, and go back to warm white in January — without touching anything.
If you go north for part of the year, you can still change it from wherever you are, as long as you have phone service. A house that lights itself in the evening looks lived in, which is worth something on an empty street in July.
The controller mounts on an interior garage wall and plugs into a standard outlet. The LEDs are rated for 50,000 hours — roughly twenty to thirty years of evening use — and draw about 0.6 watts each, so a whole home runs on less power than a couple of ordinary bulbs. There is nothing to maintain and nothing to take down. If something does fail, the lifetime product warranty covers the part and you call us, not a manufacturer.

It is not only a Christmas purchase
Christmas is what gets most people looking, and it is the easiest season to justify. But the system is on your house all year, and it does not know what month it is. Halloween, the 4th of July, Valentine's, St. Patrick's, a grandchild's birthday, a Gators or Seminoles Saturday, breast cancer awareness in October, and warm white on every ordinary evening in between.
